Day 7, Thursday, July 11th

So today was 'supposed' to be an easy travel only day with no POI stops planned.  300 miles from Sudbury to Ottawa but as sometimes happens on these trips it did not turn out that way at all.

Rain storms came through Sudbury in the early AM overnight hours but by 6 am it was cloudy but no rain.  Dave and I both have more than one weather app and all agreed NO RAIN except a 30% chance in Ottawa by late afternoon.

So at 7:30 am when we were preparing to leave we were shocked to have you guessed it RAIN.  And it rained for a couple hours then slacked up.  But as the day wore on the rain became heavier and more frequent.  Finally the weather apps caught up and we saw the cold front moving through from west to east - the direction we were going of course.  So we drove in and out of it all day long.  The last 75 miles were I must say horrific and I don't use that term lightly.  We all agreed that we've been in heavier rain for brief periods but nothing nearly as heavy as this for this many hours.  It was exhausting.

But we made it to the hotel about 7 pm wet, tired, hungry and grateful that we'd persevered and arrived safely.

As the biker's motto states:  'Foul weather makes fond memories.

Tomorrow, on to Montreal!
